ECAA — forbidden without special authorization

Drone use in Egypt is formally forbidden without a special authorization, which is practically impossible for a tourist to obtain (requires an Egyptian sponsor, military intelligence approval, a 2-6 month timeline).

Tourist flying effectively not allowed

Drones are actively searched for at customs and seized if unauthorized; anyone found with an unauthorized drone risks criminal prosecution and permanent confiscation. Leave the drone at home.

Zones to avoid

No-fly zones usually follow the same recurring categories (airports, military sites, protected areas, historic centers). For this country: Formal ban confirmed by an official French diplomatic source.

What isn't 100% confirmed yet

The general ban is reconfirmed, as of 16 September 2026, through an official diplomatic source; no tourist exception was found. Technical parameters (altitude, etc.) are not relevant given the ban.

Verify officially before flying
