Nigeria classifies drones by weight tier (up to 7 kg, 7-25 kg, 25-150 kg, over 150 kg per Advisory Circular NCAA-GAD-AC-002). Registration is restricted to Nigerian citizens, residents or legal entities, and mandatory insurance applies to all operators.
Zones to avoid
Visual line of sight (VLOS) within 500 m of the pilot (extendable with a safety case). Forbidden within 150 m of a congested area or open-air assembly of over 1,000 people; within 50 m of a vehicle/vessel/structure not under the operator's control or of a person (30 m if the person is part of the operation); surveillance/filming drones must stay 30 m from anyone. Recommended 5 km buffer from airports for the 7-25 kg tier.
